At its core, Breaking is an expressive dance style rooted in Hip Hop culture. What makes it so unique (and therefore won its place in the Olympics) are the acrobatic elements that challenge the dancers flexibility, strength, and coordination.
Combined with the development of musicality
(it is a freestyle dance, i.e., the dancers improvise on the spot, bringing the music to life), creativity, and wit (the goal in big competitions as well as small class cyphers is to show up your opponent), we believe Breaking is one of the most versatile and demanding dance styles.
For some, the word "Breakdance" still rings bells from the 80s when Breaking (that's what we call it) was all the rage, and people think of "Pop & Lock", the worm, and head spins.

But if you are visiting this page, you already have an interest that goes beyond those old stereotypes. In fact, Breaking has even been registered as an olympic sport and will be part of the 2024 Summer Olympics!
